What is A Curious Tractor?

Cultivating Change. Together.

What

A Curious Tractor (ACT) fosters co-creation between communities impacted by injustice and those who hold resources, skills, or influence. We provide a space for deep listening, radical collaboration, and iterative prototyping, ensuring that solutions are rigorously tested and refined based on the lived experiences of those they are meant to serve, resulting in shared ownership and genuine impact.

Our Values

Radical Humility

We listen, resource, and step back, prioritising community-identified needs.

Decentralised Power

We build systems that communities own, adapt, and govern.

Creativity as Disruption

We use art and storytelling to challenge apathy and centre community voices.

Uncomfortable Truth-Telling

We openly critique systems of oppression, including our own role.

Active Seeds

Our aspiration is to have a farm where the fields are abundant with projects, the soil rich in knowledge, the seeding house unique with beautiful ideas and the toolshed resourced.

It’s a place we are called to play and feel safe to do so.

How

Our Approach

Like tending a field, we believe in nurturing growth from the ground up. We work hand-in-hand with communities, carefully cultivating solutions that are both sustainable and deeply rooted in their unique context.

Listen

Community-Led

We start by listening deeply to the needs and aspirations of the communities we partner with. Every project begins with an explicit invitation, ensuring we're addressing genuine, self-identified challenges.

Co-Create

Designed for Ownership

We believe in co-creation, working with communities, not for them, to design solutions. Our goal is for communities to ultimately own, adapt, and govern the tools and systems we build together.

Prototype

Iterative & Transparent

We embrace a process of continuous learning, prototyping solutions publicly and sharing our progress openly. This includes acknowledging failures, adapting our approach, and celebrating successes alongside our partners.

Impact

Focus on Long-Term Impact

We're not interested in quick fixes; we're committed to fostering systemic change. We measure our success by the lasting, positive impact on communities and the dismantling of unjust systems.
